The combined San Bernardino/Riverside counties area saw its jobless rate fall to 12.3 percent in August, down from a revised 12.7 percent the previous month and well below the year-ago rate of 13.9 percent, the state Employment Development Department reported Friday.
"If you look at where we are now compared with a year ago, this is the strongest gain we've had since the recession started in 2007," Inland Empire economist John Husing said. "And it's interesting that it's happening without the normal drivers - construction and retail. They are normally a big deal for this region. So the fact that we're up 25,400 jobs without that is important."
Los Angeles County's jobless rate dipped red sox home game tickets to 11 percent in August compared with 11.2 percent in July and 12.5 percent a year ago.
