The Technical travel by train canada College System of Georgia's Office of Adult Education recently recognized 37 of Georgia's adult learners during the annual Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) award luncheon.
This year's EAGLE delegate representing Lanier Technical College was Ana Filpo from Braselton, a student at the Winder Campus. Dana Wildsmith, lead ESL instructor, nominated Filpo in this competitive event.

The EAGLE winners were nominated travel by train canada from among the more than 90,000 adult learners in Georgia. Selection criteria include student character, attitude, attendance, leadership and community involvement and activities. Students are selected to represent the local program at the state EAGLE Leadership Institute, a two-day event designed to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of each of the EAGLE delegates and provide professional development sessions focused on increasing leadership, communication travel by train canada and life management skills.
Every EAGLE delegate is considered an ambassador and spokesperson for literacy. Individually and collectively the EAGLE delegates tell the adult education story in ways that no one else can articulate travel by train canada and in ways those pursuing lifelong learning goals can readily understand.
Filpo has been recognized not only because of her hard work, but because of her involvement in her community. She serves as a mentor and substitute teacher in Jackson County and volunteers in her church and a local assisted living facility.
In her application to become an EAGLE delegate, she stated that the reason she participated in the adult education program was because she wanted to learn English to get better job opportunities and to show my children that you have to have an education to have a better future… She also stated, The most important lesson that I have learned is that it doesn't matter what age you are or what nationality you are; if you put forth the effort and have the dedication necessary, travel by train canada you can be successful.
Brenda Thomas, Associate Vice President, Lanier Technical College said, Ana was an excellent EAGLE as she is passionate about adult education. She is articulate and strongly believes in the value of education. Ana has taken advantage travel by train canada of every service travel by train canada offered by our college: English classes, citizenship, GED preparation and technical college classes.
