Services that will continue include the day resource center, vocational programs, children's program

The nonprofit that helps the Las Vegas Valley's homeless and mentally ill is shutting down three of its programs london and day trips or weekend tours to cope with millions of dollars in debt. The cost-cutting measure will displace about 75 homeless and mentally ill clients, and 27 people will lose their jobs. The programs are scheduled to end within the next 30 days.
"Without this program or another program to jump into when I leave here, I can very well go back to my addiction," london and day trips or weekend tours Freeman london and day trips or weekend tours said. "I can become suicidal. I can be depressed. Once I'm depressed, I'm not going to take my meds. And when I don't take my meds, all bets are off. I can either end up in jail or institutions, or I may be dead."
The programs affected include a group home for the chronically mentally ill that serves 42 people, a semi-independent housing program offered through Clark County's mental health court that serves 32 people and the organization's outreach program.
"Unfortunately, I cannot assure them that those services will be available elsewhere," Lloyd said. "But I can assure them we're doing everything london and day trips or weekend tours we can to find those services for them. We have not abandoned them. We're not closing the door, and they're on their own."
Services that will continue include the day resource center, vocational programs, london and day trips or weekend tours children's programs, apartments and meals served at the Owens Avenue campus. The group feeds 1,200 people per day and houses close to 600 people a night.
For years, the group has been filling the gap created by dwindling state and federal funds but no longer can afford to do so. One program, which wasn't identified, has a $500,000 deficit each year. And private donors aren't giving as much as they used to.
The organization is working with the mental health court, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health london and day trips or weekend tours Services and other agencies to provide resources to clients. But the mental health resources The Salvation Army provides are rare, Lloyd added.
"We help people no one else will help, that people will kind of hope go away," she said. "Sometimes, mental health is scary. Sometimes we don't want to admit it's there and leads to other things london and day trips or weekend tours we like to think are people's fault. It's not an easy fix. It's an ongoing issue."
"My major concern is what's going to happen to these people?" Pray said. "These are people who had drug and alcohol problems london and day trips or weekend tours with mental health issues. Some, if we felt they were going to lash out and hurt themselves london and day trips or weekend tours or other people, we would help them deal with their anger through cooking or poetry or help them work on their resume. I won't be able to help them like I promised. I'm just so worried about what's going to happen next."

I guess the Salvation Army felt it was way more important to shovel scarce funds towards protecting traditional marriage . And the Salvation Army are only bit players. Other religious and charitable organizations, to this day, are spending london and day trips or weekend tours MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of needed dollars on campaigns to fight marriage equality. I say, before these charities spend one dime for politics, they should pay an equal amount to a resource fund. And the resource fund should be the church's FIRST priority. And these are the institutions the Republicans london and day trips or weekend tours want you to believe will be there for you if you G_d forbid are in an emergency situation... that, or use chickens for barter!
I worked for Pathways for almost seven years leaving the organization in 2010; however, have an extensive background with TSA. It is truly heartbreaking to hear of the closing of such great programs and services that were offered to the community. The Salvation Army was the last resort for many people and offered many services that initially no other programs in Las Vegas provided. This is a tragic loss for all those involved...the clients first, hopefully they will have placement elsewhere in the community, those who have lost employment in such a difficult economy (including their families) and those who could have potentially been offered assistance in the future.
Major Rhonda Lloyd's tears foreshadow the human tragedies that lie ahead. I worked for the State Mental Health system london and day trips or weekend tours for decades and was always grateful for the substantial services of the Salvation Army who picked up the slack so sacrificially. Government will never replace the loving care provided by religiously motivated charities. This is a serious loss for our city. God have mercy.
How about Bill Gates and Warren Buffet kicking in a few million for the Salvation Army? They currently are sending their charitable dollars london and day trips or weekend tours overseas to Africa. How about the millionaire Scary Shelley and Harriet Reid kicking london and day trips or weekend tours in some money for SA? Also, all of the posters supporting SA, send in as much money that you can to help.
Cutting programs such as these will cost society more in the long run. The amount of people in jail with mental issues is great and costs a lot. They most likely have just increased in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And yet, the good news is $23,000,000 worth of automobiles were sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction. Certainly, our society has its priorities in order. Welcome to Willard Romney's vision for America: spend 'em if you've got 'em. The rest of you: pound sand.
The irony is, of course, in lieu of a health care system worthy of a great country, we were told by Republicans that Americans should rely on charitable organizations for all that ails you and your kids. Funny how popular london and day trips or weekend tours Obamacare is starting to look in the face of Republican ineptness on the issue.
No one is making contributions in this bad economy. The taxpayers will pick up the tab when these people end up on medicaid, or in the criminal justice system who will administer the mental health london and day trips or weekend tours services.
