Hertz always has good quality, late model cars, they sometimes have very interesting (or very luxurious) premium cars, and their #1 Club is a decent loyalty program with some good perks for the frequent business traveler. Those are the reasons why I sometimes like doing business with Hertz. Unfortunately, they consistently have THE HIGHEST rates in the rental thrifty car rental edmonton airport car business thrifty car rental edmonton airport and their airport agencies are often under-staffed, giving you looooongggg lines when you least want them --- points that more than offset their competitive advantages.
Some folks make sweeping statements about travel providers without knowing what they're talking about, but I try not to do that. When I tell you somebody is the most expensive, it's because they REALLY ARE .
I've been consistently running periodic price checks on rental cars for more than 10 years, and in that time, in no case has Hertz ever NOT been the absolute highest thrifty car rental edmonton airport priced company in America. Never! They will occasionally have a competitive price, thrifty car rental edmonton airport and once every blue moon, even turn up the best rate for a given market on a given date --- but that's a real rarity.
Here's how I run my tests: I pick 10 or so well-known U.S. airports with a geographic mix of east coast, thrifty car rental edmonton airport northern, southern, mid-west in both large and small markets, hub airports and non-hubs, then I go to Travelocity.com and plug those in as the rental location for the exact same week.
Watch me run a test, and let's see how Hertz does today, and then you tell me if you think my methodology is solid or wonky (or if you try it and get significantly different results, even with any other random set of U.S. airport locations).
So there you have it. Today's test results (which pretty closely reflect my normal results). In no case was Hertz the price leader, and in no case was it really even close to delivering a competitive price. In 80% of the surveyed markets, thrifty car rental edmonton airport Hertz topped out with the absolute WORST price in the market. Considering thrifty car rental edmonton airport that there are usually thrifty car rental edmonton airport at least 10 companies doing business in any significant airport location, you wouldn't expect to see such a skewed result, but Hertz REALLY does have THE worst prices in the car rental industry, and they've thrifty car rental edmonton airport been doing it for at least the past decade.
I hate Hertz. Not a little bit, but from the bottom of my soul. A bit harsh on my part? Nothing of the kind. It all started in 1995 in Chicago when I had rented a convertible Mustang with my then girlfriend from Hertz, and was headed down the Kennedy Expressway to meet some of her family.
A semi truck pulled into our lane, turning the Mustang sideways and onto the front bumper of the speeding truck. We were pushed down the expressway for approximately a quarter mile being bumped down the expressway sideways before the truck stopped, with me sitting sideways in the road and the semi truck eight feet behind thrifty car rental edmonton airport me. The left side of the Mu...
Several days ago, we were making a trip from our home in Ohio to Virginia when our car broke down. So my dad, who is a corporate Club member made a reservation for us, and we rented a car from Hertz for a few days to complete our trip while our car was sitting in the repair shop, waiting on its new transmission. And so began the fiasco...
We rented from the Lewisburg, WV airport Hertz. Their customer thrifty car rental edmonton airport service thrifty car rental edmonton airport was OK. Nothing great, but OK. The car, a Nissan Sentra, thrifty car rental edmonton airport smelled like someone smoked in it, but it was fine. The problems started when we called to ask to turn the rental into a week-long rental instead thrifty car rental edmonton airport of 5 days. This should have cost us about $180 total, and when we checked our...
I had originally given Hertz a rave review. However after being rear ended and getting a rental from Hertz through a different insurance I was mortified, upset and down right angry at this company. I quickly realized it wasn't Hertz who was good it was my insurance I had at the time (AAA) who took care of everything.
After I received my payoff check (from my car being totaled) my rental car was no longer covered under the old insurance. Well I couldn't buy a new car without a car to take me to the dealership. So I kept the rental while trying to work with the insurance to have the rental covered.
