The first of these events is a last-minute request for a wedding Honor Guard for this Saturday. Remember that regalia is available to borrow for each of the following events, with an advance request.
1. We learned today that the daughter of FN and former Color Corps Commander John Ordway of St. Elizabeth senior travel groups Ann Seton Assembly 2475 is getting married this Saturday, September 22nd. The wedding will take place at Holy Spirit Catholic senior travel groups Church, 4465 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta at 3:00 PM (2:15 PM report time, room to be determined). The Commander for the wedding will be S.K. Larry Finney, Commander of Assembly 2475. If you are available to serve this Saturday, please RSVP to both Larry ( finneyl@bellsouth.net ) and to me, so we ll know how many to anticipate. The ceremony is expected to take less than one hour.
2. Early on the morning of Saturday, October 6th, we will post the Colors at the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics Softball Tournament at East Roswell Park on Fouts Road (off Holcomb Bridge Road) in Roswell. The tournament is a feeder/preliminary tournament to the GA Special senior travel groups Olympics Fall Games. Please RSVP (yes or no), and plan to assemble and dress in the softball parking
lot (the first parking lot on the right when you reach the park) no later than 8:15 AM. The opening ceremonies senior travel groups will begin around 8:45 AM, and will include presentations of donation checks from several of the Councils of our Assembly. Because we will march onto the field of play, DO NOT worry about getting your tux cleaned or your shoes polished before the event they will likely get quite dusty that day. We should be done with the ceremony by about 9:15 AM.
3. Later that same evening, Saturday, October 6th, we will take part in the Evening of Hope Mass which precedes the annual St. Vincent senior travel groups de Paul gala and fund-raiser (silent auction, etc.) at the Waverly Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center, 2450 Galleria Parkway, Atlanta. The mass begins at 5:00 PM (report time is 4:15 PM, room to be determined), and will fulfill your Sunday obligation. Please RSVP (yes or no) for this annual event that the GA State Council supports so strongly. For those who RSVP no later than Wednesday, October 3rd, we have been invited to dine as guests of the event
organizers (rather than having to pay the $125 per person donation that most attendees will pay). If you plan to Honor Guard, please specify if you will or will not stay for dinner. The keynote speaker at the gala is former Ambassador Andrew Young.
4. On Saturday, October 13th, the Archdiocesan-wide 50th/60th Wedding senior travel groups Anniversary Mass will be held at 12 noon (11:15 AM report time) at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek. senior travel groups We expect Archbishop Gregory will be the principal celebrant, as he has been in previous years. Meet and dress in the Youth Lounge on the lower level. Please RSVP (yes or no) for this annual event.
5. On Tuesday evening, October 16th, All Saints Council 11402 will pay its repects to the growing number of deceased members of the Council, including S.K. Mike Klimshuk, mentioned above. (Note that this is a change in date from the date previously announced to some.) The mass begins at 7:00 PM (report time to the library in the adjoining Parish Center is at 6:15 PM). Please RSVP (yes or no) for this annual opportunity to show our respect for our deceased brothers.
