Without a doubt, one of the highlights of my summer occurred this past Tuesday. My friend and I decided to spend a few days in New York visiting a fellow Illini. Not only was I excited to catch up with my girlfriend, but it was also a great opportunity to lose my NYC virginity.
In addition to seeing all the standard tourist sites, such as Times Square and the Empire State building, I was fortunate enough costa rica rental cars to attend a musical on Broadway during my stay. On Tuesday, costa rica rental cars Aug. 14 th at 7 pm I saw The Lion King at the Minskoff Theater (200 West 45 th Street, New York, NY).
The theater itself was glamorous. Although our last minute costa rica rental cars ticket purchase costa rica rental cars let us in the back left corner of the orchestra seating, our seats still supported a wonderful view of the stage. This theater is ideal for tourists of NYC because it is located right off Times Square and is easily identifiable with its gigantic Lion King billboard which marks the entrance.
One of the top shows currently playing in New York, the Lion King was a perfect choice. Although costa rica rental cars the tickets were a little pricey, the script was almost identical to the Disney film, while the intricate costumes transformed the well-known cartoon into a true work of art. The way in which the producers and costume designers adorned performers in such a way that people began to resemble animals was accomplished in a way that was beautiful and graceful, rather than cheesy. Without spoiling too much, one of my favorite costume tricks allowed lion masks to swoop in front of the performers' faces in an animalistic costa rica rental cars movement.
Although the script was closely followed (so much so that at times I found myself quoting along from my childhood memories) the second half brought costa rica rental cars an interesting plot change that's function and contribution is debatable. Nala receives a solo scene with her own song. While this scene demonstrates costa rica rental cars the obvious strength of the performer Syndee Winters it added little to the plot and was never revisited. A similar instance occurs later with the character of Scar, played by Patrick R. Brown.
costa rica rental cars Whether or not you find these small alterations troubling, the staging, costumes and amazing star talent make this show a must see for anyone who is a fan of Broadway or even just a fan of Disney. The show is currently playing eight times a week at Minskoff so if you happen to be in the area be sure to snag a ticket.
While I took the more expensive route, Broadway is not out of reach. TKTS is a discount costa rica rental cars ticket booth located in Times Square that offers affordable prices costa rica rental cars for Broadway performances happening the same day. Although the show availability differs by day, the line is worth the wait if you don't have a particular show you are dying to see.
