"I hate to do that, and 'hate' is a very strong word in my vocabulary, but what I hate even more is for us to put all this hard work in day in and day out and it's going out,'' Chamblin said after Tuesday's consolidated airline tickets Day 2 practice at Mosaic Stadium. "We shouldn't even practise if we're going to tell them everything that we're doing.''
Chamblin issued a signed memo to fans before Tuesday's practice at Mosaic Stadium informing the attendees that two of the team's three weekly practices will be closed effective Wednesday due to important and sensitive team information being posted on message boards and blogs. CFL practices are numbered one through three during a normal week of preparations. The Riders' practices will be closed on Day 2 and Day 3.
Fans will be able to attend Day 1 and some of the team's walk-throughs. The media will also be allowed to watch the closed practices. Chamblin consolidated airline tickets feels the drastic consolidated airline tickets measure of closing some practices to the public is about maintaining consolidated airline tickets a competitive balance with their opposition.
"The one thing about it in this league is that it's hard enough to win games as it is and we don't want to give teams a competitive edge,'' Chamblin said. "When half of our practice is posted on a social media site, and the plays that we're running and different things . . . Until we figure out how we're going to get a handle on that, we're going to have to close it so we're going to be able to put our practice plans together and actually practise them without the other teams knowing.''
Chamblin was made aware of the detailed postings by some of the coaches and personnel consolidated airline tickets staff across the CFL. Chamblin investigated the sites, saw how much information was being posted, and felt his only felt his only recourse was to close some practices until further notice.
"We figure the best way to handle it is to just to nip it in the bud and move forward, because it's about the product of this team,'' consolidated airline tickets said Chamblin, adding the decision was cleared by the Riders' upper management. "There are 100 years and three Grey Cups; we're trying to add more. The best way I know how to do it is to be disciplined on and off the field. I can't police the fans, but I can control what goes on on the field."
"I can understand their concerns, consolidated airline tickets but there are a few bad apples who are ruining it for the rest of us,'' said Marlene Stanicky, who has attended consolidated airline tickets practices regularly for six years. "We're coming for the enjoyment of our team's practice and we're not reporting on it. It disappoints me that some people would say they are fans and they are not because they're reporting on it. That only hurts your team.''
"I don't know if it's wise to do it for two days,'' Reed said. "You can have one day when you can do things that you really want to do and not have any distractions. I don't want to second guess anyone, but I think one day would have been better than two.''
"If I asked somebody not to run the speed limit, several more people are going to run it,'' Chamblin said. "That's just the way it is. I don't want to go through six and seven weeks and have to keep doing that. The easiest way of doing that is to nip it in the bud.''
